Illinois school installs filters to combat negative CFL effects
Earlier in 2016, a school in the state of Illinois announced that it would be installing special UV light filters because one of their students was getting sick. Since the student suffers from the autoimmune disorder known as Lupus, she is not only sensitive to sunlight, but also the fluorescent lights found in the school. Per the Food and Drug Administration, “compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) that emit ultraviolet rays (UV) can be harmful to photosensitive people. “The high school agreed to install the filters in all of the student’s respective classrooms.
